Guilty 🙋🏻‍♀️ I’m guilty for not taking the time to listen to my body and recognize when I’m not doing okay. Sometimes I feel like I should push through and tell myself “I’m fine,” but in reality, that doesn’t do me any good. I pushed pause yesterday. I barely worked, and felt so damn guilty about it. Why do we put so much pressure on ourselves to push through on days when you clearly need a mental break? This is your sign to take a break if you are feeling anxious or stressed. Most of us are not saving lives. You are not a super hero. Work will be there tomorrow. You are worth taking the break. Here are some ways to combat panic or anxiety attacks or stress: 🤍 Exercise 🤍 Put you face is a bowl of cold water for a few seconds 🤍 Cold shower or cold plunge 🤍 Meditation 🤍 Breathing exercises 🤍 Positive affirmations 🤍 Calming music 🤍 Taking a break What else do you do to take a break and calm your nerves?

I don't even have the words to describe yesterday's photo session, but it definitely made me have the feels! 🥹 One of my best friends from college and future bridesmaid, Kayla, reached out to me asking me to take photos of her and her almost 13-year-old pup, Lilly. Time is a fickle thing, and Lilly is looking grayer these days, so she wanted to capture some photos with her best gal that's been by her side since 2011. Obviously, this was an absolutely YES! Now, if I told you Lilly is notorious for not wanting her photo taken, would you believe me after these photos? NOT ME. Lilly was READY and SHOWED UP for this photoshoot. She did so well and I'm beyond happy with how these turned out. 🫶 I want to thank my wedding photographer, @andijophotography for giving me some pointers and lens suggestions on how I can make my photos better. Because she was willing to help me, these photos happened, and my best friend has these to look back on for years to come. THANK YOU, ANDI!! Where were you when the Twin Towers fell on 9/11/2001? I was just a 10-year-old in 4th grade, sitting in a classroom, when the world around me changed forever. I remember my teacher stepping out into the hallway, joining others in tears and disbelief of what just happened. We didn’t fully understand what was going on, but knew it wasn’t good based on their reactions. We were sent home early that day, and I remember asking my mom endless questions, feeling scared, and still trying to grasp the gravity of what had just occurred. That day shaped my understanding of the world—how unfair, fragile, and unpredictable life can be, but also how deeply connected we all are and the importance of coming together and persevering. I may forget details of that day over time, but how I felt, and the lessons learned about coming together in the face of tragedy will remain as clear as ever. ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸

Simple, yet impactful. ⛳️🏌️‍♂️ Steven Graham Agency - Insurance Brokers of MN wanted to take their existing logo and put a fun spin on it for a golf tournament they are sponsoring. It looks pretty tee-rific if you ask me. 😉✨

I have to admit - I was ✨a little✨ nervous with this logo rebrand. Why? Because I was excited and had ideas flowing through my head. And because I knew this was for a very special person who I didn't have the privilege of knowing but made an impact on those around him and is extremely missed. Fast forward to today - the logos are finished and perfect! I'm honored to share the new logos for the @samodenmemorialfund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating the life and legacy of Sam Oden. At just 19 years old, Sam was taken from this world too soon, but his free spirit, love for the outdoors, and dedication to helping others continue to inspire everyone who knew him every day. Sam was a bright light, known for his radiant smile that could light up any room. He had a deep love for his family, friends, and faith, and he was passionate about helping children. To honor his memory and carry on his mission, the Samuel John Oden Memorial Fund was established in 2017. This fund supports programs that bring joy and assistance to children, embodying Sam's generous heart and compassionate spirit. One of the highlights every summer is the annual Cornhole Tournament where they raise funds for kid’s programs. This year, it is July 27th at the Oden family residence on Big Sandy Lake. Attendees can enjoy: ▪️Wood-fire pizza ▪️Ice cream sundaes ▪️Live music by Tim Hausner and Last Call Band with special guest Jesse Hidde ▪️Silent auction items all day ▪️Live auction ▪️Memorial candle lighting Last year, thanks to the incredible support of their community, they raised significant funds that were all donated to enriching kids' lives in the McGregor, MN area. I’ve been celebrating my birthday over Memorial Day weekend at the cabin for as long as I can remember. Now, I get to share this special time with my niece and nephew, as our birthdays are close together. I wanted to start a new tradition when Charlie turned four. I bought a huge “4” balloon and we had a mini photoshoot. He loves the camera, so it was a breeze for him, and it allowed me to practice one of my passions—photography. I love taking photos and editing them, something I’ve been incorporating more into my business. The photos get better every year. This weekend, for the first time, we included Mila in our tradition, and it was so much fun. I’m thrilled they still let me carry on this little tradition, and I hope that even when they’re too cool for Auntie, they’ll still let me take their pictures. Another client happy and satisfied. 💪🎛️🎶🎵 I had the pleasure and opportunity to work with Al Vo on creating logos for his DJ brand - A.V. Club. He came to me with a vision. A logo that brought him back to his childhood. 80’s themed elements and colors, mixed with a little Stranger Things, boombox and cassette tape vibes, and 8-bit gamer-type font. Here is one of the logos I created, and it embodies everything he was thinking of and more! I enjoyed working with Al and this project to create the logo he envisioned. But who is A.V. Club? I want to tell you a little bit about Al and the great DJ services he pours his heart and soul into. From rewiring stereo systems as a kid to becoming a radio DJ in college, and always getting passed the aux cord at parties, his passion for music has always been an important element of his life. His journey led him to discover the joy of sharing new music with others, expanding their inventory, and connecting through music. Fast forward to today, and he’s captivating audiences with his unique mixes and storytelling skills, taking them on an unforgettable auditory journey. This week, I shared a post on behalf of a client that received backlash on Facebook from people who were not their normal audience. The post was a simple celebration of women in a male-dominated field. Initially, I felt upset and questioned whether I had made a mistake. I couldn't understand why such positivity would provoke negative comments and twist the post into something it is not. And then I remembered. It doesn't matter what I think. It matters what my client thinks. My client stuck to their values and views and proudly advocated for women in the industry. I'm so happy to work for a client that isn't afraid to celebrate what they believe. I also reminded myself that I can't please everyone, and that's perfectly fine. The post is still up, and it is still drumming up some hate, but the majority recognize its intent. And that is why it isn't getting taken down. Happy International Women's Day. One year ago today, I made a decision that would change everything. Rae and Creative Design was born. I had no idea what was ahead of me, how this would work out, what it means to be a business owner, and honestly, I was scared of the unknown. What if I fail? What if someone doesn’t like my work? What if I can’t make enough money? What if I hate it? If I can talk to that Rae, I would tell her you are going to love this. It’s going to be a lot of work, but you are going to find amazing clients that value you and your work. You will find that burning passion again that was missing for all those years. You are going to be okay! Just enjoy the ride and stop worrying! There are so many people that lifted me up (and still do!), helped me with leads, told me to keep going, gave me advice, and for that, I am forever grateful.🥹 What it all comes down to is I’m really proud of what I built and keep building, but most importantly, I’m proud of myself. Today, I went to my clients business to do a simple headshot for a new employee they hired. On the way there, I was reflecting how lucky and grateful I am to be able to do something I love on a daily basis. Sure, it was a simple headshot. But I get to take that headshot and edit, crop, put on a website, add their fun facts, make a lanyard for job sites, and make content for social media. To say I get to create, transform, and make art as my job, you’d be right. It’s my safe place and honestly, my therapy. It’s not always roses running and operating your own business. I would be lying if I said it is amazing everyday. I can tell you there is more fun than not when you are doing what you enjoy. Take a moment today to reflect on what or even who makes you happy. Even the small things. Life is too short to be anything but that. -R🤍

HELLO! You're probably like, Rae - where have to been?! Let me tell you. I have been BUSY. Not with my little Etsy shop, but with my clients.
